Rose’s Luxury
When I googled Where should I eat in D.C? One of the first places to pop up was Rose’s Luxury, but I decided to try Pineapples and Pearls. I thought that due to everyone being a bit nervous about the Carona Virus, that I’d be able to sneak in without a reservation- Not So! The lovely hostesses recommended that I try their sister restaurant next door that accepts walk-ins. It was obviously meant to be that I dined at Rose’s! When I read online that it was French farmhouse that meets antiques gallery, I just couldn’t picture it, but once I walked in it all makes sense. The décor is super stripped down, the staff is uber casual, and small plates-centric menu is definitely eclectic. I started the evening with an over proofed rum slushie and ended it with popcorn crème brulee.
Everything in between was unexpectedly flavorful, and my favorite was the pork lychee salad. I recommend the Tasting Menu (Luxury Menu) so you can experience a little bit of everything that the chef has to offer. In normal life, I would never actually order the grilled cucumber with yogurt, sumac, and anchovy, but if you sit it down in front of me I’ll try it.. One of the most impressive things to me was when the bartender said that part of the proceeds from every meal served are donated to World Food Programs. Had I walked past Rose’s with no knowledge of it being a Michelin rated restaurant, I may not have given it a second thought but now I know not to judge a refurbished row house by it’s cover!
